Grand Lake - Ramps are open 6am - 8pm. Fishing has been good for all species. Rainbow trout action is excellent around the inlets. Heavy casting spoons like a Kastmaster or Little Cleo in Blue/silver color has been our go to. Brown trout action is good casting around the shorelines with small crankbaits or egg sucking leech streamers. Lake trout action is best early in the morning, look for them in 20-60ft of water, a small black or green grub tipped with sucker has been consistently producing fish. Williams Fork - The east boat ramp opened on May 15th. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM. The inspection shack has moved from the west end of the parking area to the east end. The water level at opening was 90%, last season the level was only 55%. Current level is 91% with 362cfs coming in and 235cfs going out. Opening day, we found Lake Trout fishing to be slow. I'll attribute that to the unstable weather patterns over the last couple of weeks. Fish were easy to locate in 40 to 60 feet of water. Watching them on Mega Live they would react to jigs but would rarely bite no matter what color jig or jigging technique was presented to them. The bite will probably pick up later this week. On paper there shouldn't be any Kokanee Salmon left in the lake. Rainbow Trout fishing is slow since the lake hasn't been stocked in several years. Northern Pike is also slow but I've heard reports of some being caught in the shallow bays. Northern's are in decline so please practice catch and release on all fish. Lake Granby - Water level is at 89% or about 8.5ft from full. Stillwater Boat Ramp is open 6am-8pm 7 days a week. Fishing has been good for rainbow trout and brown trout. Casting along shorelines with Brown or White colored Dynamic Twitch tubes and larger casting spoons in silver color has been producing very good numbers of fish. Best bite is when it has been windy along the rocky shorelines in less than 15ft of water. Lake trout action has been very good. Jigging 4-5” tubes in dark colors has been most productive. Look for them in 20-45 ft of water. Also has been some shallow water action for lake trout right at sunrise or sunset. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Dan Shannon.
