Lake Trout Mafia

We are striving to protect and preserve trophy lake trout fishing. Every year the regional biologist for the CPW (Colorado Parks and Wildlife) sets nets to get a size estimate on lake Granby. We use his numbers to try to select for the best “eating” size fish to harvest. Over the past few years that size has been 18”. After checking with other fishermen, guides and biologists, we thought this would be a great size to select for statewide. We ask that all fish over 18” be released.

The Lake Trout Mafia does encourage proper handling of the fish and a quick photo and release.

We do have hats, stickers and other apparel to help spread the word
