This will be the last report of the year until we start ice fishing! Get out and enjoy the great fall action.
Grand Lake - Ramp hours 6am-6pmFishing has been very good for rainbow trout both from the boat and from the shore. Pink or green Vibramax Spinners and erratically worked crankbaits have been producing well fished around the shoreline in 10ft and shallower water. Lake trout bite has been very good, look for them in 25-50ft of water, glow grubs and chartreuse spoons tipped with sucker jigged right on bottom are producing great numbers of fish. Williams Fork - Ramp will be closed to trailer launched craft on 10/31. The water level is 84%, or 10 feet low. Due to the heavy algae bloom this fall visibility is about 10 feet. Surface temp is 52 degrees. The Lake Trout bite on keeper fish has been excellent. It's pretty easy to catch limits of keepers right now even though the fish are not grouped up like I've seen in past seasons. Look for them in 65 to 70 feet of water near drops, or on the flat of a drop. Small tubes, grubs or twister tail type plastics tipped with sucker meat is working well fished gently on or just above the bottom. Rainbow Trout and Kokanee Salmon are slow due to low/no population. Northern Pike is also slow. Please practice catch and release on all Northern Pike to help preserve the declining population. Until next open water season, Fishing with Bernie Guide, Randy H
Lake Granby - Stillwater Boat Ramp is open 6am-spm 7days a week. Water temperatures are peaking in the low 50’s during the day. Water level is 90% or approximately 8ft low. Fishing for Rainbow trout has been good. Chartreuse or Pink Vibramax spinners and Kastmasters along the rocky shorelines has been working very well. Lake trout action has been excellent. Look for them in 20-50ft of water. A variety of 2-3” soft plastics or 3/8oz and 1/2oz spoons jigged right along bottom has been working, with the color varying daily. Best suggestion for the lake trout is to have a good selection of colors and baits on hand and if you are on fish and not getting bit, change up till you find what they are liking that day, and keep your sucker meat small and very fresh!
