Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 10-11-2020

Grand Lake - Lake trout are in 20 to 40 feet of water and the bite has been decent. Lake trout are still spawning, however it is starting to tapper down. Small spoons tipped with sucker meat have produced most of the fish. The bite for browns and rainbows has been good this week with most of the action coming early in the morning or late afternoon with exception to overcast days. Most of the browns and rainbows have been caught in 5 to 10 feet of water along shorelines and on shallow flats.
Guide Sam Hochevar- fishing with BernieWilliams Fork - Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. The boat ramp will close for the season on October 31st. Water capacity is 84%. Surface temp is 53. The Lake Trout bite remains good as the fish move into spawn. Look for them in 70 to 80 foot of water. Small grubs, tubes or spoons tipped with sucker meat, or salmon eggs will produce light bites through mid-day. Rainbows fishing is slow, but they are moving back into the bays. Casting spinners early morning and the last couple hours of daylight may produce some hits. Northern Pike are slow. I'm seeing fish late morning in 6 to 8 foot. Slow moving suspending baits may prompt a hit. The remaining four year old Kokanee are in full spawn and not feeding. Browns are still in the gravel type areas, minnow baits, tubes and bushy flies are all working very well. Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 10-4-20.

Lake Granby- Rainbows are eating bait and small spoons along the shorelines. Browns have been very good during lowlight hours. Floating minnow baits and bushy flies have been doing very well. Lake trout are starting their spawn, rocky areas 40'-70' deep small grubs and spoons tipped with sucker meat have been working very well.

Williams Fork - Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM daily. Water capacity is 85%. Surface temp is 55. The Lake Trout bite has slowed down but they are still catchable until mid-day. Look for them in 70 to 80 foot of water. Mixed age groups of Lake Trout and Crawdads are hitting tubes, spoons and grubs tipped with small pieces of sucker meat. Northern Pike are moving into shallower water mid-day to sun. Any lure fished on a slow to medium retrieve might get one to hit. Rainbow Trout fishing is slow in the shallow bays, but some are being caught bottom fishing on the west side near the dike. Kokane trolling is very slow. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie

Small plastics tipped with sucker meat have produced most of the fish. Rainbows can be caught at the surface in the morning. Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 9-27-20.

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 86%. Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. Surface temp is holding at 57. The Lake Trout bite is strong until mid-day. Look for mixed age groups in 70 to 80 foot. They're hitting tubes, grubs and spoons tipped with sucker meat on the bottom. Northern Pike are slow but the persistent angler working a slow to medium retrieve may hook up. Rainbow fishing is slow around the campgrounds. Bottom fishing the deeper drop offs may produce a few fish. Grand Lake - Water temp 54. The bite has been good. Lake trout are spawing in 30 to 45 feet of water. Look for spawning fish on rocky humps and rocky shorelines. Spoons and small plastics tipped with sucker meat have produced most of the lakers.Guide Sam Hochevar - Fishing with Bernie

Lake Granby- Brown trout fishing at night is getting very good. Floating minnow baits and large bushy flies are catching some nice fish. The key is to find them. Gravel areas on wind swept shorelines have been key for us. Lake trout continue their migration to the spawning areas. The bite has been good on small grubs and spoons tipped with sucker meat. There are very few salmon in Columbine bay, please remember it shuts down to fishing at midnight on September 30.

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 87%. Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. Surface temp is 57. The Lake Trout bite is good until mid-day. Mixed age groups can be found in 70 to 80 foot of water. Working small grubs, tubes or spoons tipped with sucker meat on the bottom should get hit. Rainbows are slow but as the water cools in the campground bays the bite will pick up. Pike fishing is slow. Larger Pike are moving into shallower water late morning. Any lure that can be fished on a slow to medium retrieve is picking up follows and an occasional hit. Kokanee trolling is slow. Lake Granby- Browns are fishing well at night, minnow baits reeled in very slowly are getting bit. Rainbows are a little more active on the shorelines. Powerbait and worms are getting bit. Lake trout are moving towards their spawning beds. Most fish seem to be in 50-80' of water. Grubs and spoons tipped with sucker meat are getting bit.

Here is your Middler Park fishing report for the week of 9-13-20.

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 88%. Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. Surface temp is 57 in the main body. Mixed age groups of Lake Trout are biting good until mid-day. Look for them in 70 to 80 foot. Work small tubes or grubs tipped with sucker meat tight to the bottom. Bank fishing for Rainbows is slow. Bottom fishing the deeper drop-offs is producing a few fish. Kokanee trolling is slow,  a few are being caught in 40 foot, but most trollers are catching small Lake Trout. Pike fishing is also slow. Lake Granby- The lake trout are definitely moving towards their spawning beds. Small spoons, tubes, twister tails tipped with a small piece of sucker meat should get bites. We've been fishing in 50'-80' of water. rainbows are starting to get a little more active in the shallows. Bait as well as other lures are catching fish early and late in the day. Browns are in their spawning areas. Floating minnow baits during low light hours should get bit.

Grand Lake - The bite has been moderate. Lake trout are hanging in 35 - 50 of water and we are starting to see some spawning behavior from the lake trout. 3 to 4 inch plastics as well as small spoons tipped with sucker meat have produced most of the lake trout. The lake trout bite is best in the morning and seems to taper off by 10:00am as the boat traffic increases.

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 89%. The new ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM effective September 8th. Surface temp has dropped to 62 in the main body. The Lake Trout bite is good until about mid-day. Mixed age groups can be found in 70 to 80 foot. Rubber grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat jigged on the bottom will produce bites. Bank fishing Rainbows in the bays is slow. Fish the cooler water deep drop offs at the east campground or the parking area by the dike. Northern Pike are slow but they are following lures fished on a slow to medium retrieve. Kokanee are slow due to lack of population, but a few are being caught in 40 to 50 foot. Koke trollers are catching small lake trout. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie

Grand lake - bite has been slower this week. Lake trout are hanging in 30 to 50 feet of water. 2 to 4 inch jigs tipped with sucker meat work on the bottom has produced most of the lake trout. Browns are starting to pick up. Most of the brown trout action will happen early in the morning and late in the evening. 

Lake Granby-  Rainbows are still tough fishing from the bank. Trollers are catching them on small minnow style baits. Brown trout are eating at night, minnow style baits and large bushy flies are getting bit. Lake trout will be starting their annual migration to the spawning areas in the next couple weeks. For now they are still in deeper water. Tubes and grubs tipped with sucker meat are getting bit.

Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 8-31-20

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 90% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 64 in the main body early AM. The shallow bays around the campgrounds are near 70 degrees on a sunny day, which has pushed the Rainbows to deeper water. Bottom fishermen are catching a few Rainbows along the deeper drop offs with worms, eggs or Power Bait. The Lake Trout bite is good on mixed age groups. Look for them in 80 to 90 foot. Rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat is working well fished on the bottom. Northen Pike are slow, but they are following lures fished on a slow to medium retrieve. Grand Lake - Lake trout are hanging in 40 to 70 feet of water. The lake trout bite has picked up a bit this week with most days having a decent bite in the morning. Jigging is the best way to target lake trout right now. Browns and rainbows can be found near the surface at first light and between 15 and 25 feet of water by mid morning. Williams Fork - Water capacity is 91% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 64 warming to 67 late in the day. Lake Trout are biting well once you locate a group. We're starting to see mixed age groups bunched up. Look for them in 80 to 90 foot. Small rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat worked on the bottom will get bites. Rainbows are slow in the shallow water areas around the campgrounds. Your best bet is the deeper drop offs bottom fishing with bait, or casting small spinners in the inlet. Kokanee trolling is slow but trollers are catching a few in 40 to 50 foot along with small Lake Trout. Northern Pike are slow. We're seeing followers in the bays, but they don't want to hit. Lake Granby- A few rainbows are being caught from the banks with bait. the bite is best early and late in the day. Trollers are picking up a few over the deeper water. Night fishing continues to improve for the browns. Minnow baits of large flies are getting bit. Fishing is still slow as weather has remained hot and dry. Lake trout are hanging in 35 to 70 feet. 3.5 inch to 5 inch jigs tipped with sucker meat have been producing fish. Most bites have come while working the jig very slow on the bottom. Rainbows and browns are rising at the surface early in the morning however they are going deeper shortly after the sun hits the water. Sam Hochevar, Guide- Fishing with Bernie

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 93% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 65 warming to 67 on a sunny day. The Lake Trout bite has been good on some areas of the lake. Jigging small rubber grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat on the bottom is producing hits in 80 to 90 foot of water. Northern Pike fishing is slow but they are catchable if you work hard. Working the west bays with any lure type on a slow to medium retrieve is your best bet. The shallow bays around the campgrounds are warming to 70 degrees which has made bottom fishing for Rainbow slow. Fish the cooler deep water drop offs. Casting small lures at the inlet is producing a few fish. Kokanee Salmon trolling is slow due to low population, but a few are being caught in 40 to 50 foot along with small Lake Trout. Williams Fork - Water capacity is 96%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is hanging at 65 warming to 67 in the main body. The Lake Trout bite has picked up. Look for them in 80' to 90' of water. Jigging small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat will produce bites. The bite drops off around 11AM and picks up again late in the afternoon. Bottom fishing with bait for Rainbows around the east campground bay is slow. Fish the deeper drop offs were the water is cooler. Casting small spoons, spinners or flies around the inlet is producing some hits early and late in the day. Kokanee trolling is slow but some fish are being caught in 40' to 50', you'll mostly hook up with young Lake Trout. Northern Pike are slow, but they are catchable early and late in the day. Lake Granby- The heat of the day is bringing browns to the shorelines at night. Casting large flies or minnow baits has been getting better. Rainbows are mostly in deeper water. Trolling minnow baits over deep water has been catching a few fish. Lake Trout Have been getting pickier but will still hit small grubs tipped with sucker meat. The bite has been ok in 60-90' of water.
