Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 10-8-2018. Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is in the low to mid 50's. With recent rains the water level is holding at 83%. Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. The inlet is closed to fishing. The lake trout bite continues to improve with the cooler water temps. Look for fish in 60' to 80' of water. We are catching on rubber jigs and 3/8 oz metal spoons tipped with sucker meat on or just above the bottom. Shore fishermen are catching a few small lakers casting spoon. Large resident Rainbows are cruising the shore lines. Casting minnow like lures should produce some hits. Bottom fishing for Rainbows is slow, but casting small spinners early in the AM and late PM is also producing hits. Kokanee trolling is slow with one or two fish caught per day. Grand Lake, Lake trout are in full spawn mode and eating small jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat. Rainbows are cruising the shorelines hitting small spoons.
Lake Granby is fishing very good from the banks for rainbows. Coves and creeks seem to be very good places to cast lures early and late in the day. Lake trout are starting their spawn. The "egg eaters" (15"-20") fish are eating with a vengeance. From rocky shorelines try casting "Clam" Leech flutter spoons or white twister tails and fish them deep. From boats those same techniques will work or sit on top of the schools and jig spoons and plastics tipped with sucker meat.
Please remember shadow mountain spillway to Columbine Bay is closed to fishing October 1st to december 31st.
Wolford is fishing very well for kokanee, jigging spoons or trolling dodgers and squids have been producing limits of 14-16" fish. Rainbows are being caught along the shorelines with bait and lures.
