Spring Fishing

Late April or early May and lasts about 4-6 weeks

As the ice recedes from the shoreline rainbows, browns and lake trout move to the shallow warmer water. This gives us the opportunity to target all species (and lots of them). The brown trout in Granby run 14”-18” on the average, a very large brown will be 23”. Rainbows average 10”-14” with a chance at an 18” bow. Lake trout can run very large, we target fish over 30” and have caught them up to 46”. Casting lures and jigging can be very productive this time of year.

We let the weather decide how and where we are going to fish.

spring fishing

Crestliner give us boat owners a very easy boat to rig. With any luck at all this article will help you with some of the decisions, tips and a couple tricks. The first thing I do is get in the boat and fish. Sit at the wheel, fish out of the bow, cast cranks, rig, jig and generally move around.

While the ice is still good, it is time for us to start thinking about open water, spring fishing is only a few months away. This weekend I will be speaking about open water trophy trout from the shore or a boat.
