Spring fishing

6-3-13

This lake Granby fishing report is brought to you by "Fishing with Bernie". This spring has been a tough one for the pelicans and osprey's until last week. The CPW stocked lake Granby with 2000 catchable rainbows. Some of the ospreys were thinking about moving south for the summer while the pelicans were starting to look slim and trim. The bird world is now fat, sassy and happy.
Now lets get to the fishing, the rainbows are biting well along the shoreline on various baits. Browns are hitting crank baits, spoons and small tube jigs with reckless abandon along the shorelines on all 3 lakes. The lakers in Grand Lake and Granby are continuing their pilgrimage to the abyss but they are still biting a variety of spoons, plastics and crank baits. The "fore bay" between Willow Creek and Granby is fishing well for rainbows as well as Willow Creek it self. The rivers in the area have cleared and run off is starting to show signs of slowing down. Those fish still have to eat and they can be caught very close to the bank and down in the deeper holes. The Frazier river through Winter Park has been very high but with the water dropping it shouls start to fish very well.
